Within the framework of this URBACT Transfer Network, Lead Partner Komotini – City for All & Lead Expert IO CHATZIVARYTI, recently carried out a City Visit in Zrenjanin, gaining valuable insight into local efforts to strengthen accessibility and inclusion.

Zrenjanin is a hashtag#multicultural and active city, where public space, sports participation and community engagement play an important role in everyday life. The large central square and the widespread use of cycling contribute to a vibrant and accessible urban environment.

☑️ A key moment of the visit was the meeting with the emerging URBACT Local Group (hashtag#ULG), which brought together municipal departments, social services and civil society organisations:

🔸 The Union of the hashtag#Blind of Zrenjanin has been actively hashtag#mapping accessibility barriers and contributed to the development of the hashtag#LazarilloVoiceNavigation application.
🔸 The hashtag#ParaplegicAssociationBanat is also very engaged, promoting inclusive sports activities and initiatives to identify accessible locations across the city.
🔸 An important institutional stakeholder is the Technical faculty “Mihajlo Pupin”, whose facilities include accessible features and which could play a stronger role in developing technical solutions and supporting accessibility planning.

🟢 The municipality supports inclusion through targeted services such as dedicated transport for children with disabilities, care centres and accessible play spaces, while maintaining open cooperation with community actors.
