Successful Launch of the SMAC Local Stakeholder Group in Drama

On 3 June 2026, the Drama Chamber of Commerce and Industry successfully hosted the first Local Stakeholder Group (LSG) meeting of the SMAC – Sustainability Model for Accommodation MSMEs project, bringing together representatives from the tourism sector, accommodation providers, public authorities, academia, and sustainability experts.

The meeting marked an important milestone in the implementation of the project, creating a collaborative platform where local stakeholders can actively contribute to the development of innovative sustainability solutions for small and medium-sized accommodation businesses across the Mediterranean region.

During the session, participants were introduced to the overall objectives of the SMAC project, the Simplified Sustainability Model for Accommodation MSMEs (SSMA), and the Artificial Intelligence Recommendation Tool (AIRET), an innovative digital solution designed to support accommodation businesses in their sustainability transition. Stakeholders also explored examples of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices currently being implemented within the hospitality sector.

A key highlight of the event was the interactive stakeholder discussion, facilitated by the project team and experts from Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). Participants shared their experiences, needs, and expectations regarding sustainability challenges faced by accommodation providers and provided valuable feedback on the design, usability, and functionalities of the AIRET platform.

The insights collected during the meeting will directly contribute to the further development of the AI-based tool, ensuring that it responds effectively to the real needs of accommodation businesses and provides practical, tailored recommendations to improve their sustainability performance.

The Drama Chamber of Commerce and Industry would like to thank all participants for their active engagement, constructive contributions, and commitment to supporting a more sustainable and resilient tourism ecosystem.

The SMAC project continues its work towards empowering accommodation MSMEs with accessible sustainability tools, fostering innovation, and strengthening ESG practices throughout the Mediterranean region. Join the effort! Participate at shaping the AIRET tool https://www.menti.com/alcmg643t2k1
